"What am I doing in this bloody great nutshell?"

The night of my twenty second birthday, my Dad handed me a card with a check for two hundred and twenty dollars, and said, "Welcome to the age of responsibility." I wasn't very amused, but I suppose he's right. I've spent four and a half years in the psuedo-reality of a very large, very liberal university, emerging with a double major, no student loans, and a little credit card debt. My father has been responsible for financing my education, and now it's time for me to start earning my own way. A little about me, for the one or two of you who didn't just follow me over from my last blog: I have two younger sisters, a father and a step-mother. One sister goes to a state college a couple hours away, and the other is still in highschool. My mother passed away a little over a year ago. I'm currently in the process of moving from Massachussets back to my parents house in the suburbs of Washington, DC. I want to work in the non-profit sector doing public aid work, preferably working with a public health or environmental watch group. I have a boyfriend who is pursuing his masters in Raleigh, NC, about four hours away. We've been doing the super-long distance thing for the past four months, while I finished up my last semester, and now we're going to try and keep the relationship going. I honestly don't know whether it will be harder or easier to make things work now...but I'm hoping easier, and I'm excited about trying. Anyway, stay tuned, I'll keep you posted on job searches, family-, friend-, and relationship- drama.
