The experiences and exploits of a college grad trying to make it in the "real world:" leaving school and friends in New England, moving south, and living with her boyfriend. Watch as I pretend to be an adult.
It was a grey and blustery day in the hundred acre wood...
Ok, so maybe it's more like the "five acre wood." Whatever. It's grey and rainy, and has been all day. It has rained so much, in fact, that our little coy pond looks as though it's going to overflow its banks. But that doesn't matter a bit. Why? I got my diplomas today. That's right. My diplomaS. One that says, "Bachelor of Arts," and another that proclaims, "Bachelor of Science." Whee! It's official, they can't take 'em back now! Mwahahahahah. Ehem. I also got a pay check today. Not a large one, because it's only for, well, four days of work (London trip cut into my work time), but still. Money is nice. Annnnd Elija arrives tomorrow. Yipppie! I can't wait. It's the bestest birthday present ever. (grins) The only thing that brings down my mood a bit- and it's a little, tiny thing, really... is the fact that I had a blond moment the other day when sending out my latest round of resumes. You see, I've started applying to jobs in the Raleigh area. This was my first round. I found a bunch of jobs that looked interesting, wrote up fabulous cover letters, and sent them whizzing through cyberspace with .doc resumes trailing behind. Uhm...the only thing is, well...I sent the wrong resume out. I sent a half completed one that didn't have any work experience before last summer or any education information on it. (sigh). So those are a wash. But that's all right. I don't need a job down there until this summer, really. Oh! And I have a plan. I may have mentioned this before, but... I'm going to convince Karen, Laurie and Steve to move down to Raleigh with me. I'm going to be ever so sly about it too... you see, since I'm in the process of job hunting, I see a lot of adds. If I see one I think would suit my friends, well...I'll just happen to send it their way! Come to think of it, I do have a copy of a resume and cover letter Laurie sent me to proofread a while ago... Why- I could apply for them... er, but no. That's overstepping. But, I figure if I accompany job adds with some weather reports and glowing descriptions of the people/lack of traffic problems/cheap cost of living, well...I stand a shot at convincing them. Right? Right?!? (excellent)
