The experiences and exploits of a college grad trying to make it in the "real world:" leaving school and friends in New England, moving south, and living with her boyfriend. Watch as I pretend to be an adult.
I have a problem. It may not be as serious as, say, alcoholism or heroin addiction, but it is a problem none-the-less. Do they offer a twelve-step program for people who just can't stay away from used book stores? I ask because I have been two different stores a total of four times in the last week. Granted, once was just to drop off books for trade. But even still- three times in a week is a bit excessive. I may need professional help here, people. Anyway, I only got two books today in preparation of my trip. They were:
Zia Jaffrey, "The Invisibles: a tales of the eunuchs of India"- a book about a crossdressing/eunuch subculture in India. I sort of stumbled across this today and realized is a topic I'm really interested in. I know there's a similar subculture in Thailand which I also want to read up on.
Patricia Cornwell, "Blow Fly"- Possibly one of the only Kay Scarpetta novels I haven't read. If you don't know about the Scarpetta mysteries, well...you're missing out. That's all I have to say.
This will not be like last Sunday when I bought four books and read them all within three days. Those were:
Princess: life behind the veil in Saudi Arabia Into the Heart of Borneo Heinlein's Short Stories some bad spy novel I never finished
So. I sit here with my gin and tonic in my hand...what to do, what to do... stop reaching for the damn book!
