    It's beginning to look a lot like...winter.

What I'm listening to: The National, Slipping Husband

I knew it would happen sooner or later, though the 70 degree weather we've been enjoying up until recently made me hope for an Indian summer. The cold weather is upon us, and there is nothing for it but to break out the sweaters, coats, scarves and gloves. Come to think of it, bears, groundhogs and squirrels have a damn good idea- I would love to hole up in my nice, comfy bed and settle in for a long nap, waking only when this whole rain-sleet-and-snow bullshit had departed for another nine months.
Figuring a sudden improvement in my hibernating abilities is about as likely as Congress deciding to knock off all the partisan squabbling, hold hands, and sing Kumbayah, I've resolved to look at the bright side. Winter isn't all bad...I mean, there's Thanksgiving. Christmas. Weekends spent snuggling in bed. Er...Hot cocoa?
Oh, boots! Yes, now there's something I can get excited about- lovely, beautiful, shiney new boots in hundreds of styles and colors. I will be buying myself a pair of tall, black boots as soon as my next pay check clears...and I can't wait.
Turkey Day is right around the corner, and I am absolutely thrilled at the prospect of seeing my family again. Elija and I will be in Va for three or four days, which is the perfect amount of time- my relatives are best taken in small doses. I do believe it'll be quite the crowd this year, thanks largely to the step fam. While I wish there weren't going to be quite so many rug rats around this year, a full house does tend to make for good times. I'm sure I can ignore the ankle biters, given sufficient wine.
In any case, I'll be putting in a half-day on Wednesday, and then heading up north. Here's (futilely) hoping that 95 won't be hopelessly gridlocked!

PSA: I will be in Mass from Dec 30- Jan 2 (leaving the morning of Jan 3). This includes a stay in Boston over Jan 1 and 2. If I haven't already talked to you, and you want to see me (or want a fun group to hang out with over New Years) let me know! I believe this year's crowd will include the Squire Crew (minus Karen, sadly), the Chicas, and a fair contingent from Omega Delta, plus various assorted friends and hangers-on. Details to follow, perhaps.
