The experiences and exploits of a college grad trying to make it in the "real world:" leaving school and friends in New England, moving south, and living with her boyfriend. Watch as I pretend to be an adult.
Life is good right now. I got my first "real" paycheck (my job pays monthly...they're just evil like that) and promptly ran to the bank to deposit it. It should clear in a few days and I will have a very, very nice chunk of change sitting in my bank. My boy (unbeknownst to me) set out to improve his relationship holiday record. The last couple of years he hasn't done so well with the anniversaries and v-days and things like that. Let me just say- he knocked my socks off. All of last week he talked up this "huge" test he was going to have, saying he'd have to stay in and study Monday night. I agreed that we should celebrate a day late so that he could have more study time and didn't think about it again. Of course, it helped that he also talked about the amazing cake he was going to make for Tuesday- quite the diversionary tactic. Anyway, Monday night I got home from work to find him saying he felt sick and his back was hurting. He really didn't want to cook...would I mind going out for dinner? That was fine with me, and thinking he still had tons of studying to do, I suggested a local bbq joint that's a mere step above fast food. He vetoed that claiming to be in the mood for seafood, and picked another restaurant. We headed off and fifteen minutes later arrived at the most romantic, delicious, amazing Mediterranean seafood restaurant. For anyone in the Raleigh area, Evoo is just spectacular. We had a great dinner- candle lit and everything. Tuesday I came home from work to find red roses on the kitchen table, one of my favorite Japanese dishes being plated up, and the chocolate-iest death-by-chocolate cake in existence...baked in the shape of a heart, no less. Elija has more than made up for last years "three-day-late-books" fiasco, and the rather lackluster valentines days. Needless to say, I've been walking around with a big, goofy grin on my face- I'm not a huge romantic, but every now and then it's nice to do something to sort of recapture the magic.
