The experiences and exploits of a college grad trying to make it in the "real world:" leaving school and friends in New England, moving south, and living with her boyfriend. Watch as I pretend to be an adult.
I don't know how many of you have been following the recent happenings in Congress- I hope a few, at least. I am cautiously hopeful. I feel like the testicles of our legislative branch are eeeeever so slowly descending. Our Senators and Congressmen are gradually remembering that they have their own voices, and are beginning to use them instead of just parroting the official whitehouse line. I am particularly proud of those republicans who broke party lines to help prevent ANWR and the Patriot Act from running through unchecked, who have expressed concern over our ever expanding deficit, and . I feel hopeful that our Judicial branch may follow suit, given the reaction to recent events involving the wiretapping of American citizens. I sincerly hope their actions don't come in the form of more resignations- our judges can be far more effective behind the bench. Our government has too long been held hostage by a bloated and power hungry executive branch. This isn't about republicans or democrats anymore- this is about respecting our system of governance and the principles upon which it was founded. It's about civil liberties, responsibility, and checks and balances.
This quote has been floating around a lot lately, but it is quite accurate:
"They that would give up essential liberty to obtain some little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin
