The experiences and exploits of a college grad trying to make it in the "real world:" leaving school and friends in New England, moving south, and living with her boyfriend. Watch as I pretend to be an adult.
I received two diplomas. I moved back to my parents in Virginia, leaving behind just about all of my friends. I carried on a long distance relationship with Elija for 5 months. I worked for my stepmom for 8 months. I spent time getting to know my family again. I went to London. I flew to Boston three times. I drove to Raleigh...god knows how many times. I learned this was not enough, and damnit, I need to go somewhere new. I built my own furniture- a lot of it- and it looked wonderful. I moved to Raleigh. I put utilities in my name for the first time ever. I lived with a boyfriend for the first time. To my complete shock I stayed madly in love with him. I got a "real" job. I loved it, I hated it, and eventually I learned to appreciate the good and overlook the bad. I massaged the system until I was given the kind of work I like to do and stoped being asked to play secretary. I felt mildly guilty when all of the crap work was dumped on the other new employee and I was given more interesting things to do. I learned to love a new city. I discovered restaurants, gyms, malls, and farmers markets. I found the best way to cook collard greens. I kept in touch with my old friends, and managed to stay closer to them than I would have thought possible. I decided (I think) what to do with my life.
So, for 2006?
1) Travel someplace fabulous- preferably several places. 2) Take my first accounting classes 3) Invest my money- 401k/IRA/MM etc. 4) Start climbing again
