    Feminism- The Prologue

Recently I came across a blog called Den of the Biting Beaver. Now, I generally hate the term "femi-Nazi." I consider it condescending and disrespectful on a number of levels, and I would usually never use it. However, in this particular case it definately applies. This blog is a femi-nazi blog. It represents the viewpoint of a very extreme sect of feminists who are so radical in their beliefs that they make me cringe. Me! The "babies are a waste of my time, I want a house husband, abortions on demand, kick sexist bastards in the nets" girl over here.

Go check it out. Here are a few of my favorite posts:

    Sexual Consent

Putting Out (when you don't want to)

    I am a Rapist (by a man)

Reading this blog feels eerily similar to watching a Michael Moore film or listening to an Anne Coulter diatribe. Through hyperbolic emotionalism and specious resoning people like this manage to start at a principal I can wholeheartedly endorse (for example, "rape is bad and rape comes in different forms") and twist and exagerate facts until they produce claims so outrageous I'm left scratching my head (men should never initiate any sexual contact (even wives/gfs) unless specifically invited to do so by the woman, as it might be unwated, and and and all unwanted sexual contact is rape). What...?

After reading these posts it was quite clear to me that my idea of feminism and BB's idea of feminism are very, very different. I certainly consider myself a feminist. I'm proud to come from a long line of feminists- my grandmother and her sisters all went to college, something that was almost unheard of for Southern women of her class and generation. But how do I see feminism?

    More to come!
