    A quick run home

Last Saturday I took a quick trip up to Virginia to celebrate my stepmom's birthday. I got into town just in time for lunch, and we headed off to the Blue Iguana to eat. My sisters were there as well, and we all sat around the table talking about our lives in a way we hadn't been able to for months. It was wonderful.
Later that night I went with my father and stepmom to a chamber music performance. A pianist, a violinist, and a celloist played various pieces by Ives, Renault, and my favorite, Foss- a composer I hadn't encountered before. They were extremely talented, the setting (an old town hall) was beautiful and appropriate, and afterwards there was a small reception. We all mingled, snacked, and got a chance to speak with the musicians. The celloist bore a striking resemblence to a friend from college, which was kind of funny.
After we got home I ransacked the basement for snorkeling gear before vegging out in front of the TV- something I haven't had the pleasure of doing much the last few months.
Sunday afternoon I went to lunch with my Dad at this divey little place we use to go years and years ago when I was a little girl. Back then the area around Centerville was rural, with only a few strip malls on either side of the two lane highway. We chatted about upcoming visits and my job, and enjoyed a thoroughly greasey lunch.
Then it was back down 95 to Raleigh and life as usual.
